Program Support Officer

Gwich'in Tribal Council is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the term position of Program Support Officer in Inuvik, Northwest Territories. Reporting to the Education Manager, the Program Support Officer is responsible for providing administrative program support for programs and services offered by the GTC Education and Training department such as the Indigenous Skills and Employment Training Program (ISETP) and Gwich’in Education Fund (GEF). This position is responsible for client management, data management, and various administrative duties related to the delivery of the programs and services

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma in Business Administration, Career Development, Education, or Social Science
  • 2+ years of related experience
  • Experience working in an office environment an asset 
  • A valid class 5 driver’s license an asset 
  • Equivalencies (combinations of education and experience) may be considered

SKILLS & ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to analyze and interpret legislation, policies, and procedures
  • Ability to work independently and in a cross-cultural environment
  • Ability to listen and communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Problem-solving, analytical and evaluation skills
  • Organizational skills, including the ability to keep large volumes of information and requests organized effectively 
  • Accuracy and attention to detail 
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills for dealing with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively to meet deadlines;
  • Understanding of basic bookkeeping
  • Experience with database programs
  • Knowledge of office procedures and document formatting including filing systems and business letters
  • Knowledge of Microsoft-based operating systems and programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and in database applications
  • Client-service orientation,  including the ability to provide a high level of service within and outside the organization
  • Ability to maintain all client personal and financial information in a confidential and secure manner
  • Highly Sensitive Position – requires verification of identity and a criminal records check; and
  • Ability to travel on small planes and ice roads when required

Salary is $70,000 plus a generous benefits package which includes allowances of $20,000 per annum as well as health, dental, short and long term disability, life insurance, and generous leave entitlements. This position is a term position until March 31, 2021, with the possibility of an extension.
