Program Support Officer

Gwichin Tribal Council in Inuvik

Gwich'in Tribal Council is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the term position of Program Support Officer in Inuvik, Northwest Territories until November 2019.  Reporting to the Project Supervisor, the Program Support Officer is responsible for providing administrative program support for the Skills and Partnership Fund (SPF) program and Indigenous Skills and Employment Training Program. This position is responsible for client management, data management, and various administrative duties related to the delivery of the programs.   



  • Diploma in Business Administration, Career Development, Education or Social Science
  • 1-2 years of related experience, including bookkeeping or program administration
  • Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector check required
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license
  • Experience working in career development or related field is an asset
  • Equivalencies (combinations of education and experience) may be considered



  • Ability to analyze and interpret legislation, policies, and procedures
  • Ability to work independently and in a cross-cultural environment  
  • Ability to listen and communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Attention to detail, problem-solving, analytical and evaluation skills
  • Organizational skills, including the ability to keep large volumes of information and requests organized effectively and prioritized effectively to meet deadlines
  • Working knowledge of database systems and an understanding of basic bookkeeping
  • Knowledge of office procedures and document formatting including filing systems
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Client-service oriented,  including the ability to provide a high level of service within and outside the organization
  • Ability to travel on small planes and ice roads when required
